The 1969 Plymouth Road Runner is a high-performance model which was built by the Plymouth division of the Chrysler Corporation and is part of the Road Runner series. Although Plymouth already had the GTX as a high-performance model, it was seen as moving away from its muscle car roots. Therefore, Plymouth went back to the drawing board and the Road Runner was designed.The name "Road Runner" comes from the Looney Tunes cartoon character Road Runner which Plymouth paid $50,000 to Warner Brothers to use.
